Olympic Gold Medallist Mario Stecher

My career began at the age of 7 on a 20-metre ski jump in Eisenerz. My trainer was Gerhard Niederhammer, who still plays an important role in my life today.

In following years, I developed in both ski jumping and Nordic combination, while visiting the ski-centred high school in Stams. Two years later, I became the youngest participant to win the event at the Mecca for Nordic ski sports: Holmenkollen - a record that holds to this day!

In Turin, as part of the Austrian team, I became an Olympic medallist in Nordic combination.
